WelcomeWelcome friends and descendants of families from Surry County, NC!
Nancy Patterson and Bob Carter welcome you to our genealogy web site. We hope you will find our site interesting and informative. The space and resources have been graciously provided by our friends at www.MountainScape.com and SysAdmin Services, Inc.™ in Asheville, North Carolina.
Since we both have our ancestral roots in Surry County, our desire has been to share our ancestral data to anyone without cost. By doing so, we hope to be an encouragement to others as they begin researching their families as well. However, all information on this site is copyrighted and any commercial use, reproduction, or republication of any of the material contained in this site, without the express written consent of the site owners, is strictly prohibited. Since our resources are being donated without cost, we will also not sell advertisements, nor bother you with those pop-up ads that are so annoying, nor create links to other sites that are fee-based. Our objective will always be to make the site easy to navigate, fun to explore, and serve as a repository for information on births, deaths, marriages, and cemeteries and other genealogical information about our families.
Since some of the data is in Adobe .pdf format, you'll need the Adobe Reader to view them. Adobe is one of the most widely used text/graphic readers available and we suggest you download a free copy (yes, it's free) from their site at: http://www.adobe.com/.
"Surry Cousins" is devoted primarily to Surry County genealogy with an emphasis on cemeteries, which is a hobby of the author. We've also created additional pages for Civil War veterans (veteran grave pictures, both Confederate and Union), a Brick Wall segment (for those reaching a dead end), Census links, as well as one for Wills, Deeds, etc., and a general links page. If you want to donate pictures of your ancestors graves, home sites, family gatherings, wills, deeds, etc., please send them to us in digital format if possible. If they are not digitized, send us an E-mail and we'll make arrangements for you to send them to us for scanning and we'll return them.
